The Grand Mosque of Batam or called Masjid Raya Batam (MRB) is a mosque located in Batam Kepulauan Riau Indonesia. This mosque has a dome with a unique form of rectangular pyramid or pyramid-like design. The mosque is equipped with a tower as high as 66 m. In addition to being a place of worship, this mosque became a charm of tourism attraction.
The mosque is located on Jalan Engku Putri Batam City. Masjid Raya Batam is located in Batam Center area which is the center of Batam city government. Facing with the office of Batam Island Authority Authority or Batam Industrial Development Authority (BIDA). Strategically located next to the square or about 20 minutes from Hang Nadim Airport, not difficult to find this mosque
The MRB complex stands on an area of 75,000 square meters, and thus makes MRB the largest and largest mosque in Batam. MRB can accommodate 3500 worshipers. But if the mosque is full, then the yard and the outside of the mosque can be used to accommodate pilgrims with a capacity of up to 15,000 worshipers.
The mosque was built in 1999, and completed in 2001. The mosque was designed by the famous architect in Indonesia, Achmad Noeman. Achmad had also designed the Salman Mosque Institute of Technology Bandung (ITB) in Bandung.
